It's Not Easy Being Green

Well, it may not be easy for Kermit to be green, but it sure is easier for outdoor photography when things start turning green!! I had an outdoor session on Sunday and we were so happy to find green grass and blooming flowers. It was nice to be shooting outdoors again and I couldn't have asked for more adorable little subjects. This little brother and sister pair were just the cutest! The baby was so in love with his big sister and just watched her and smiled at her constantly. Big sister is three and did such a great job cooperating--she even had a special noise she showed me how to make that would make the baby smile every time! Here are a few of their portraits so you can enjoy some of their cuteness:

Welcome to the World...

Welcome to the world....Paige Elizabeth McLamb!! My sister and her family welcomed a beautiful baby girl at 2:00pm this afternoon. Paige weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. She has a gorgeous head of dark brown hair and a round little face! I was able to be there for most of the labor and the delivery. Since this is a G-rated blog, I'll won't share most of those photos , but I did want to share a few. :) My sister was such a trooper--an induced labor with no epidural--and she walked out of the delivery room an hour later like it was nothing! So here are a few pictures from today:

The contractions:

The waiting:

The arrival:

She is my sister's smallest baby. Look at those tiny feet:

And finally, a shot of Paige all cleaned up and dressed:

I put the names of all the people who voted for a girl in a hat and drew out...Molly Simmons! So Molly, congratulations, you have won a free storyboard!

I know some of my sister's family and friends will be visiting the blog to see Paige. If anyone would like to leave a comment for her I will print them out for Paige's baby book!

Spring has Sprung!

Hi Everyone. So did you just love the beautiful weather we enjoyed last week? I know my girls did! They both came home from school with dirty clothes and dirt under their nails from playing outside. Grace even asked if we could go to the pool! Along with the beautiful weather outside (let's hope it returns soon) I have been enjoying some beautiful subjects for inside spring portraits. Last week, Madison and Willow came over for their spring portraits. This is my third time photographing them and they are always a pleasure. Madison, the older one, is a natural in front of the camera and to be two, Willow is a very good sport! Here are a few from their session:

(Yep, that's our dog Winston she's holding. Both of the girls just love him so he became a "prop" for a couple of photos!)

And for those following the saga, my sister is set to be induced on Tuesday morning. I am hoping to be there, camera in hand, to capture the arrival of a new little one in our family! Of course, I will post photos and the winner of the blog contest as soon as possible.

Also, I am continuing to book appointments for April and May, so if you would like portraits before I go on "maternity leave" please contact me--the sooner the better!

Bunnies and Baskets and Basements--Oh My!

Hi Everyone. The weather is warming up and it's starting to feel like spring! And with spring comes spring portraits. I will begin a busy couple of weeks of outdoor shoots for Easter next week, but in the meantime I have been doing some studio Easter shots. You all have seen Keira and Connor before since I get the pleasure of taking their photos often. They are both growing so much and they were both very good during their Easter portraits!
Here is Keira posing as a bunny:

And here she is with some Easter chicks:

And here is little Connor hanging out in an Easter basket. Two more minutes in that basket and he would have fallen right to sleep. That how good a baby he is! I hope our baby number three is as laid back as Connor!

And with all the changes around here, we are also changing things in our home. We are in the process of finishing our basement and it will become my photography studio. I am beyond excited about this, especially now that construction is underway! The contractor says a couple more weeks and I can open the studio for business. Here is how the progress is coming:

This area will be the sitting area where people can view their proofs or just relax while taking a break during sessions.

Here is another view of the sitting area. The door you see on the far right goes out into our garage.

This area is to the left of the fireplace and will be the shooting area. Backdrops will be along the back wall. That's a large closet on the left to hold all the props, etc.

This shows the door to the garage again on the far left, the stairs going up into the house, and what will be a small bathroom.

Don't you think it's going to be just fabulous? I've been driving the contractor crazy with picking out floors, ceilings, paint colors, even toilets! I'll keep you all updated as it comes along and I can't wait for one of you to be the first to have a studio session there.

By the way, my sister is still pregnant--although she is at the point where she is wishing it was over! I'll keep you posted on the contest. If you haven't voted yet and would like to, just scroll down to that post and leave a comment stating your vote.

It's A..........

GIRL! We had our big ultrasound today and found out we will be having another girl. That makes three girls for us! I guess our house is destined to be full of princesses and Polly Pockets. While I know lots of family members were hoping for a boy, I am actually quite pleased with another girl. I know how to change their diapers and I love to shop for girl clothes! This little girl will also have a very special name--Stella Ruth--after two of her great grandmothers.

So, it looks like the only little boys I'll get are the ones that I photograph. I just took portraits of the sweetest little six month old boy yesterday. He was full of smiles! Here are a couple of little Caiden and his big blue eyes:

And of course I can't leave out his two beautiful big sisters:

I also promised I would let everyone know about this month's contest. Since we already know that we will be blessed with a little girl, the contest will involve my sister's baby. She is going to deliver in the next couple of weeks and they don't know what gender they are having. So, for this month's contest, please leave a comment on the blog stating whether you think my sister will have a boy or a girl. She has two boys already. You can see a few of her maternity portraits here on the blog if you're one of those who wants to see "how she's carrying." When she has the baby, I will put all of the people who guessed correctly into a hat and draw out one winner. That person will win a complimentary 10x20 storyboard from their next session. (Storyboard may not be from a previous session) So let's see those predictions--boy or girl???

Another Little Wolfpacker

Sorry that I haven't updated the blog recently. My grandmother passed away very unexpectedly last week. She was 85 and had lived a great life full of friends and family. It's been hard for everyone to say goodbye, but we know we will meet her in heaven one day!

So after a rough week, it was nice last weekend to pick up my camera and head to the home of this little wolfpacker, Joshua. I did maternity portraits for Joshua's mom and it was so nice to finally meet him. He is three months old in these photos and was such a nice, calm baby. I told his parents they are very lucky! I'm not sure how, but I keep getting opportunities to photograph these adorable little wolfpack fans.

So here are a few of little Joshua:

Be on the lookout for another blog update soon that will contain information about my March contest. (Remember, I'm trying to do a contest on the blog every month) You won't want to miss out on your chance for free stuff!
